Grammy Awards 54, Adele Raih 6 Penghargaan Sekaligus

Dua penghargaan terakhir pada Annual Grammy Awards 54 jatuh kepada Adele. Sensasi pop Inggris itu membawa pulang penghargaan Record of the Year untuk lagu Rolling in the Deep, serta Album of the Year untuk album 21. Dengan ini, pelantun Someone Like You itu membawa pulang enam penghargaan, sekaligus menobatkannya menjadi peraih trofi terbanyak.

Adele menerima penghargaan Record of the Year dari pemenang penghargaan Best Country Album, Lady Antebellum. "Terima kasih banyak -- ini tidak bisa dipercaya," ujarnya serta berterima kasih kepada DJ radio karena memainkan lagunya. "Orang kelihatan sangat menikmati lagu itu," tambahnya.

Adele mengumpulkan penghargaan Album of the Year tepat sebelum performa penutup dari Paul McCartney. Dia menerima penghargaan tersebut dari LL Cool J, dan penerima penghargaan Lifetime Achievement Awards, Diana Ross. Tidak menyangka akan kemenangannya yang bertubi-tubi itu, Adele sempat menitikkan air mata saat memberikan sambutan di atas panggung.

"Ibu aku mencintaimu, aku menyesal kau tak ada di sini," katanya setelah memeluk LL Cool J, yang menjadi presenter Grammy Award tahun ini. "Semua orang pernah mengalami hubungan cinta yang tidak langgeng. Aku sulit menyatakan perasaanku. Ini tahun yang mengubah kehidupanku."

Penyanyi cantik berambut coklat itu menerima lagi empat penghargaan lain, yaitu Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, dan Best Short Form Music Video. Dia menerima penghargaan Best Pop Vocal Album pada saat siaran pre-telecast Grammy.

Jumlah penghargaan yang diraih Adele diikuti oleh Foo Fighters yang berhasil mengumpulkan lima trofi. Yang juga mendapatkan multiple penghargaan adalah Kanye West (4), Skrillex (3), dan Tony Bennet, Bon Iver, Taylor Swift, sertala Cee-Lo Green (masing-masing 2 penghargaan).

Acara penyerahan penghargaan itu dipandu oleh LL Cool J dengan susunan penampil seperti Rihanna, Chris Brown, Kelly Clarkson, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, dan Adele. Perayaan itu juga mengenang kehidupan, karier, dan warisan dari almarhumah Whitney Houston serta Etta James juga dirayakan.
